Public displays of affection: A shared creative experience

September 13, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:45 pm

After spending way more time online during the pandemic, lots of us are familiar with doom scrolling, zoom fatigue and other kinds of online anxiety!

University of Melbourne researcher Vanessa Bartlett will present a shared creative experience exploring how websites are designed to make us feel particular emotions.

The workshop will use art and creative processes to help us reflect on shared experiences of life online. Participants will respond to ‘The Hidden Life of an Amazon User’ (2019) by Joana Moll, using group processes including word play and drawing as part of a research project that investigates how art and creative approaches can help to support more critical, playful and imaginative ways of relating to digital technology and its negative effects on mental health.
